Last week I visited a friend in a country town far away from my own home. During that stay I spent my days in silence, often cleaning and waiting for his welcome return.
On the last day of my stay I recorded the images that were most familiar to me. As a collection it was shocking to see the 'flatness' and 'harshness' of them (see gallery folder 'contained' ) Fortunately my friend fills his life with people and music.
It did however make me wonder how our well-being is influenced by the colours and images that we see each day and how some people are literally 'confined within' their spaces.
As a sculptor, some people think that I'm a recluse. My days are usually spent in a routine of constant application to my craft. As an artist however, I appreciate and love what is around me.
That is what I'm going to record. I'll gather some understanding of my own environment and what influences my creative process.
Domestic and small perhaps or even quaintly feminine in reference but I believe that it's OK and it will be a worthy pursuit.
